- Some words about myself
Being born in Leipzig and having grown up in Germany and Switzerland, I am now about to finish my studies at the University of Zurich. Besides sports (volleyball, tennis) and travelling (I just returned from South Korea.), my biggest interest are languages. What I like about learning English, French, Spanish and Italian is the gratification I get out of it. Being able to communicate or even discuss and debate in those languages is the best motivation I can imagine. For this purpose I studied a semester in Canada and stayed for longer periods in France and Spain.
Studying communications and having - in internships or part time jobs - collected varied experiences related to journalism, it was mostly my passion for writing than the topic itself that made me apply as a WRF Student Reporter. A few years ago I had the chance to participate at the Geneva International Model United Nations as a journalist, where I got a glimpse of how such conferences work and of the way they’re covered by the media. Therefore I did not hesitate when the members of the Swiss Study Foundation where invited to apply as student reporters for - this time - a real conference with renowned participants. Unlike most of my ‘co-bloggers’ I cannot benefit from a scientific or economic background, but isn’t that the particular journalistic challenge? I always liked immersing myself into a new topic and I think it can even be an advantage to approach the subject without any pre-dispositions. My mind is open for the most convincing inputs and arguments and I am looking forward to deal with them in our blog postings.
