Nov. 2011: Updates about the World Resources Forum initiative

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Welcome to the first WRF Newsletter after the World Resources Forum 2011!

Over 400 participants from all over the world took part in the congress. According to the survey that was filled in by approximately 200 of you, the WRF 2011 received mainly positive feedback (link). We hope that each of you was able to benefit from the event, being it a specific keynote speech, a workshop presentation, a chat during a break or during the congress dinner, a blog or new useful networking contacts.

Now, a few weeks after the event, we would like to draw your attention to the following issues:

  • The WRF 2011 Meeting Report is about to be finalised and will be available for all the participants in the next few weeks.

  • Most of the invited plenary lectures of the WRF 2011 are now published on the WRF Homepage at this link at and so are the workshop presentations (see here).

  • The next World Resources Forum will take place in Beijing from 21-23 October 2012, please find further information here.

  • The WRF outcomes will be part of the Swiss Rio+20 strategy at next June’s UNCSD summit; the Swiss government has submitted its proposal for Rio+20, including a short mentioning of the WRF 2011; we do our best to play an active role there.

  • The preparations for the setup of the WRF Association are proceeding as planned. If you want to learn more about this and/or want to become member of the association please see here.

  • The World Resources Forum presented the Davos outcomes at the international Re-source Conference in St. Gallen last week. More info here.

For those of you who took part in the WRF 2011 we would like to express our warm thank you for your active participation! We are convinced that the WRF will pass on an important message to politicians, business leaders and other decision-makers.

It would be nice to meet you during the next WRF events in Beijing 2012 and in Davos 2013! Meanwhile, please keep yourself informed about the on-going WRF activities at www.worldresourcesforum.org.

Best regards,

on behalf of the WRF Organising Committees (Secretariat, Expert & Scientific Committee)
